The Night Before the Interview: A Short Prayer

The outfit is picked out. The directions are checked. And you are lying in bed rehearsing answers to questions nobody has asked yet, feeling like tomorrow will decide more than one morning should be allowed to decide.

Interviews have a way of shrinking us. For an hour, someone else holds a clipboard and a verdict, and it is easy to walk in believing your worth is on the table. It is not. Your paycheck may be decided in that room. Your value was decided long before it, by a God who made you on purpose and calls you His.

When God sent Joshua into a moment far bigger than a conference room, He did not hand him a script. He handed him a presence:

Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Wherever you go. Including the lobby with the too-firm handshake and the room with the panel of faces. You will not walk in there alone.

A prayer for tonight

Father, You know how much I want this, and You know how nervous I am. Thank You that tomorrow does not decide my worth, because You already have. Give me clear thoughts, honest words, and calm hands. If this job is Your provision for me, open the door wide. If it is not, I trust You are protecting me from something I cannot see and preparing something I have not imagined. Either way, walk in with me. Help me sleep tonight, and be my confidence in the morning. Amen.

Try this tomorrow

In the parking lot, before you walk in, take one slow breath and say: "God, You are with me wherever I go." Then go in and be exactly who He made you to be. That is the version of you they need to meet.
